First off, we're assuming that shotguns are firing 00 Buckshot. If it were something like birdshot, shotguns would deal significantly less damage, whereas slugs would make shotguns more like rifles. And we're not going to get into anything like adjustable chokes because we don't want to get crazy. With that said:
- Shotguns that are fired from within 5 Yards deal +1d6 Damage, because we'll assume at that range the victim gets hit with a huge number of pellets and it really hurts.
- Shotguns that are fired from more than 5 Yards away inflict a -2 DM on the Defender. We're assuming at that range that the pellets have spread out somewhat so that it's a little hard to miss. No damage bonus at that range, however.
